March 20, 2008 - Toronto, ON - Rogers OMNI Television is proud to present the world premiere broadcast of No More Hiroshima No More Nagasaki, as part of the OMNI Television Documentary Special series. The 60 minute documentary launches to Japanese speaking viewers on OMNI.2, Sunday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m. with an encore presentation later that same night at 10:00 p.m.
The first major project for Nakamura International and winner of Best Canadian Documentary at Vancouver’s DOXA Film Festival, No More Hiroshima No More Nagasaki is a powerful telling of the horrendous disaster of the August 1945 nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed and countless more died slowly of radiation.
Only a few are still alive to tell the story.
In No More Hiroshima, No More Nagasaki, viewers meet Hibakusha -- the remaining survivors of the world’s first and only nuclear war – and learn their heart wrenching stories. The only visual record of those first moments of horror on the ground is in the artwork created by Hibakusha. Their message is as haunting as their images: peace must prevail with the lessons learned.
As the production and stockpile of nuclear weapons continues to grow throughout the world, No More Hiroshima, No More Nagasaki reminds us of the cost of atomic warfare in human lives and unimaginable destruction. The English language version launches on OMNI.1, Sunday, May 11th at 8:30 pm.
No More Hiroshima, No More Nagasakiwas exclusively funded through OMNI's Independent Producers Initiative, a $32.5 million independent production fund that to date has supported over 200 new documentary programmes.
