April 17, 2008 - Toronto, ON - Rogers OMNI Television is proud to present the world television premiere of The Hero and The Queen as part as part of its Language Documentary Specials series.  In deference to its subject matter the 60 documentary airs first to Romanian language audiences, launching on OMNI.1, Saturday, April 19th at 10:00 p.m. with an alternative broadcast the following Saturday (April 26th) at 5:00 p.m.

A documentary first for Romedia Productions, The Hero and The Queen explores the intertwining destinies of two exceptional characters: a Canadian lieutenant-colonel, Joseph Boyle, and Queen Marie of Romania.

The Hero and The Queen re-visits the circumstances that brought Boyle and Queen Marie together in the midst of the dramatic events of World War I -- and subsequently, what events forced them to separate against their will.

The English language version of The Hero and The Queen will premiere on OMNI.1, Saturday, August 2nd at 10:00 p.m.

The Hero and The Queen was exclusively funded through OMNI's Independent Producers Initiative, a $32.5 million independent production fund that to date has supported over 200 new documentary programmes. About Rogers OMNI Television
Rogers OMNI Television is a free over-the-air system consisting of regional broadcasters with the collective mandate to reflect Canada’s diversity through the airing of inclusive and accessible programming: multilingual/multicultural stations OMNI.1 (CFMT) and OMNI.2 (CJMT), along with the recently acquired (April, 2008) channel m in Vancouver BC, and two newly granted (June, 2007) licences for similarly mandated ethnocultural stations in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta; all are owned and operated by Rogers Communications in the Rogers Media division.

OMNI.1 is currently available across Canada to Starchoice subscribers on channel 343 and to ExpressVu subscribers on channel 215. LOOK carries OMNI.1 on channel 65 in Ontario.

About the producer
Raul Dudnic is a Toronto based independent television producer who has been professionally active in a variety of media for the past 15 years. The Hero And The Queenis his first documentary film. Among his current pursuits, Dudnic edits a Romanian bi-weekly magazine; produces a Romanian radio show and produces Noi Romanii, a weekly television programme that focuses on Romanian life in Ontario through news, interviews and entertainment.
