Stanley’s knowledge of the Chinese community is an important part of his role in the OMNI newsroom. He is well-known throughout the community and is currently is Vice-Chair of the Canadian-Chinese Congress, St. John Ambulance, Toronto. He has been actively involved in many charities, both locally and internationally.Stanley first joined OMNI Television in February of 1998 as anchor for Chinese Newsline and now anchors OMNI News: Cantonese Edition. He’s also worked on Cantonese-language special presentations such as Hong Kong in Transition: Anniversary Special in June 1998 and Tiananmen Square, 10 Years Later in June of 1999.He began his career in Hong Kong at Commercial Television (CTV) and then moved to the Television Broadcasting Company (TVB). He covered many major events, including the International Refugee Conference in Switzerland in 1990; the incidents at Beijing Tiananmen Square in 1989 and the Sino-Portuguese Talks on Macau Issues, 1985 – 1988.Stanley says he’s been working in this field for 30 years because journalism is constantly changing, and he likes to keep things fresh and new.Stanley came to Canada in 1990, together with his wife Helen and their two daughters. He likes to go camping and sightseeing in the summer time. He also likes to keep Chinese cultural traditions alive, often practicing calligraphy and studying old Chinese poems.
