On tonight's Italian Edition (8pm - OMNI.1), The City of Vaughan’s audit committee has voted unanimously to order a forensic audit of Mayor Linda Jackson’s 2007 office expenses.  Jackson has defended the spending and said she welcomed the audit.  The public chastising of the mayor has sparked feuding amongst City officials, leaving many to wander how councilors are coping with all the distraction.  Reporter Enzo DiMauro has the story.

Today's News Headlines

  • Subway Arrest:

On March 28th, a young woman was shot in the leg while on a subway car, after she allegedly lunged towards three males with a knife during an argument. The trio took off after the incident, but their images were caught on surveillance cameras. Now, after nearly two months since the shooting, Toronto police have made an arrest in the case. An 18-year-old male has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault, as well as a number of related offences. Police continue to look for the other two males.

  • Myanmar Aid:

The UN says two of its planes have touched down as part of the first major international airlift of aid, while three additional flights are on the way. The deliveries mark a breakthrough for the United Nations in cyclone-ravaged Myanmar, as the country's military rulers had delayed clearance of the items. Meanwhile, one U.S. official says the death toll in Myanmar could eventually exceed 100,000.

"ALESSIA"
