Ontario's favourite Italian-language television newscast airs on OMNI.1 each weeknight, featuring international, national and local news; community based interviews, success stories and debates; along with details on sports and weather. Community events/public service announcements are highlighted on Thursday and Friday nights.

Vincenzo’s people skills and friendly nature came in handy when he moved to Canada from Naples, Italy in 1980. When he started at OMNI Television, he was a salesman, but he managed to land a job as a sports anchor and was here to stay.Vincenzo co-hosted Incontri, (Encounters), a nightly half-hour of current affairs awarded as "Most Innovative Programme" in 1988 by the Canadian Ethnic Journalist Association (February 1988 to January 1996). From 1996 to the present, he as been anchoring OMNI News: Italian Edition nigtly. In is long career, Vincenzo interviewed various internationally renowned personalities in many fields of endeavour, including: the last three Canadian prime ministers, many Italian political figures, celebrities such as Sophia Loren, Marcello Mastroianni, Roberto Benigni, Liza Minelli, , Vasco Rossi, Zucchero and Umberto Eco -- just to name a few, and hosted live coverage of Pope John Paul’s visit to Toronto. He says that by being part of the news, “you are part of solving problems because you share information with people.”“It gives you the opportunity to communicate with people and to be of service to the community,” he said.Vincenzo’s passion for helping the community is also evident from his involvement with numerous charities – he volunteers for the Canadian Diabetes Association, Easter Seals, Telethon and many others. “As long as you can help someone, it’s worth getting involved - better than standing and watching, not moving a finger,” he said.Vincenzo takes his job seriously, but likes to joke around with his wife Anna, and two sons, Michael and Stefano. He also loves his collection of Tex Willer comic books. At one point, his wife was so upset with the piles of books he had to donate the whole lot to the library – but he’s started collecting again.

Italian Afternoon
Italian Afternoon is a new daily show dedicated to deliver the latest news from Italy as well as covering stories that affect the Italian community here at home. RAI International is the source of this new international coverage coming directly from Rome, Monday thru Friday. The TG1 newscast will air in the first half-hour, right after a local news update, and will bring viewers up-to-date with the most recent news and events from Italy. Other segments featured in this hour long broadcast will include daily topical features of interest to the local Italian community.
