The Best Companies for Minorities in Canada
Each year, 200,000 people settle in Canada from around the world. In our leading business city, Toronto, 44 per cent of the population is foreign-born.This has a tremendous impact on our business environment.
OMNI Television teams up with the highly-respected Canadian Business magazine to produce a series of special feature reports on the subject of diversity in the workplace.
Beginning March 29th, OMNI will air a special report in each of its five daily newscasts (Portuguese, Italian, Mandarin, Cantonese and South Asian editions). The goal of the series is to examine and rank the best companies for minorities in Canada.
Who are they? What do they do that makes them outstanding examples in a multicultural society? What can we learn from these companies? What do companies learn from their employees? How have they tapped the potential of Canada's visible minorities and turned diversity into a business asset that improves the bottom line? How is Canada's workforce changing? What hurdles do we, as a society, still need to overcome?
By combining the specialized knowledge of the staff at Canadian Business magazine with the unique demographic reporting of OMNI News, this project promises to be a landmark series. The editors have worked with government personnel and a panel of experts from the private sector to provide a unique ranking of Canadian companies -- in effect, looking at "the best of the best" in this particular field.
The OMNI News / Canadian Business special series will continue weekly on OMNI Television from April 5th to June 11th, with supporting articles and useful links on the OMNI and Canadian Business web sites.
The combined series promises to be an impactful and informative look at a uniquely Canadian market advantage.
