RAUL DUDNIC – producer, director
Raul Dudnic is a Toronto based independent television producer who has been actively involved in the video and television industry for the past 15 years.
He started his career in television in Timisoara, Romania as a news anchor for EUROPA NOVA TV in 1993. Same year he was promoted to become Programs Department Coordinator.
In 1995 Raul Dudnic moved to Canada and in October of the same year started a radio show in Romanian language.at CIRV Next year he starts on Rogers Cable 10 a Romanian TV program, The Romanian Reality.
Since 2004 he is the producer of the Romanian language television show, NOI ROMANII, on OMNI TV. For this show, Raul does short productions, mostly covering local events as well as historical and travel mini-series.
THE HERO AND THE QUEEN is his first documentary film. Currently he works as a director/producer on another documentary, UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT, a dramatic story of a teenager girl infected with HIVAIDS.
Raul is also the editor of a Romanian bi-weekly magazine and the producer of a Romanian radio show based in Toronto.
DECEBAL DASCAU – main camera
Decebal Dascau’s career is strongly tied to the Romanian Revolution of 1989, which found him as a freelance photographer and videographer. He captured shocking images of the revolution which were broadcast around the world. In the first stage of his career, Dascau participated in Romania’s Image Festival in 1989, where he was awarded the first prize. He was one of the pioneers of the first independent television station in Romania, Timisoara ’89 Television (TVT’89). Dascau worked in both the drama and news/documentary units
Since 2004 Decebal is established in Toronto, Ontario working as a free-lance Cinematographer, Editor and Director. He directed, shot and edited a self-produced documentary, Happiness, aired on the Independent Film Channel in the United States. Currently he is working as an in-house editor and cinematographer for Ballinran Productions Limited, covering the head-line grabbing archaeological excavation at Toronto’s Old Don Jail, where skeletons of executed in-mates were un-earthed in the Fall of 2007. His footage of the event was broadcast on CFTO (CTV) News, and Discovery’s Daily Planet and will be featured prominently in Ballinran’s latest production, The Dark Side of the Don.
SIMONA CATRINA – writer
Simona Catrina is the chief-editor of the Toronto-based JURNALUL ROMANESC (The Romanian Journal). She started her career as a journalist in 1993 in Bucharest, Romania. She wrote for the most prestigious newspapers and magazines in Romania. In 1997 she became Head of the Editorial Department at THE NATIONAL, one of the best Romanian dailies. In 2002 she was appointed Executive Editor of TABU, a successful glossy magazine. In 2003 she moved to Canada and started writing editorials for Radio Nostalgia.
GABRIELA ILIE – Queen Marie’ voice
Gabriela is the host of the Romania TV show produced for OMNI Television. In Romania she was the host of a radio show for children, and also the “voice” in some feature movies. Gabriela has a PH.D in Psychology and teaches at University of Toronto.
