Historians regard the Tang Empire as the strongest empire on earth in the 8th century. The Rise of the Tang Empire revives the glory of the Tang dynasty, when the ancient capital of Chang’an was the centre of trade and culture in the world, and Buddhism – brought from India more than a thousand years earlier – flourished.

Ming Dynasty 1566 looks at Chinese history through contemporary eyes, focusing on the critical era when feudal society moved from prosperity into decline.
