James Dallas Smith - "Garth"
J.D. is a diverse performer, passionately pursuing acting, music and writing since high school. In a classic case of art imitating life, he was delighted to have won the part of the singer/songwriter Garth on Metropia. Although born in Brantford (home of his great uncle, Jay Silverheels, who originated the role of Tonto in The Lone Ranger), he grew up in the small Ontario town of Port Elgin. He attended the Theatre Program at Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto. The theatre background served him well as he landed parts in Proof, Romeo & Juliet, The Drawer Boy, Hard Times for These Times, Anne of Green Gables, Guys & Dolls and Hayfever. He has played on stages in Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, London and Ottawa and garnered both Dora and Les Masques nominations for his acting. Although his role on Metropia promises to be a breakout screen performance, he has also appeared in The Good Shepherd with Christian Slater and Stephen Rea and The Limit with Lauren Bacall and Claire Forlani. Currently, he is working hard and touring with his band The Free Press (www.freepressmusic.com), who have just completed their debut album and will be featured on Metropia later this yea
