Hosted in Mandarin and Cantonese, this weekly program will highlight preparations for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Produced at the OMNI studios, the program will feature stories about Olympic venues currently being completed, travel destinations in China, profiles of athletes and all-things related to Olympic preparations.

The Summer Games have put China on the world’s stage. Now, more than ever, people are watching developments in Asia with interest.

The Olympics will feature a full schedule of exciting events, including equestrian events in Hong Kong.  With Hong Kong as a co-hosting location to Beijing, the Summer Games symbolically bring together the country’s Cantonese-speaking and Mandarin-speaking populations, both in China and abroad.

OMNI has unique access to global news sources, including Associated Press Television, CNN, CCTV, ATV, and the China National Tourist Office.

“The Road to Beijing” will have a Canadian perspective, and we will be interviewing members of the Chinese community in Canada, talking about their feelings and relationship with this high-profile global event.

The program will be presented by two hosts; one Cantonese, the other Mandarin.  Names will be announced shortly.   The show will have Chinese subtitles.

Former International Olympic Committee president Juan Antonio Samaranch has boasted that the Beijing games will be "the best in Olympic history."

The Olympic slogan, One World, One Dream, calls upon the world to unite in the Olympic spirit.
