The documentary explores Nia's path to fulfilling her dream and how it was filled with many roadblocks, challenges and turning points. It features rare footage and photographs taken from Nia's first amateur and professional performances, as well as compelling interviews with people who knew her before her rise to fame. Her journey is chronicled with insights from those who played a part in her new found stardom, including Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks as well as two interviews with Nia Vardalos, a rare one before her success and in a recent interview following her spectacular achievements. Produced, directed, hosted and written by Melissa DiMarco, this project represents an adjunct to an all ready active career in the entertainment business - spanning more than a decade. This seven-year funding commitment by OMNI was created and made available for independent producers to create third-language/ethno-cultural programming.
